This video explains the origins and nature of the Soviet Five Year Plans. It examines the nature of the “industrialisation debates” of the 1920s and the decision to abandon NEP. In the second and third parts, it argues that Stalin’s “Revolution from Above” was both a spectacular success and a catastrophic failure.
