Description
This podcast speaks to people working on helplines or 'active listening' services throughout the last year. With the country in lockdown and everyone spending much more time at home, vulnerable people are facing more challenges than they normally would. Although many face-to-face mental health services have been temporarily suspended or had their services scaled back, helplines have remained open throughout the pandemic.
Conor speaks to Lee Daly, a volunteer with Childline, and Rory Fitzgerald, Regional Director of Samaritans, on their experiences of providing remote listening services for people in need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Childline is 1800 66 66 66 and at childline.ie
The Samaritans is 116 123 and samaritans.org
