Description
In the year 1700 B.L., the oldest known elven population, the Drownaurons as they are called, are said to have crawled out of a cave rumored to be on small island adrift within the Asari isles. Some of these early Drow set to work on mining stone and chopping lumber for the purpose of creating a great civilization above ground on the land. This group of elves built boats made out of the lumber they scrounged from the piles produced by those building their young civilization. In time (1635 B.L.) they set to the sea, searching for a new land. The travel was difficult but these early ship were strong and swift and could cut through the tempests of Malkus and shallows of Nadinies. As they traveled, these elves had grown used to the sun and began to welcome it. They began to map out the land and explore the mountains. This group began to call themselves the Higher Elves, due to their larger cities and proximity to great forests and mountains. The high elves and Drow, as they were now called, lived in relative peace for a time. Trading technology, religion, and histories they began to populate the continent of Aetros, developing an area peaceful for all elven kind, regardless of subrace or culture. Over the years two other major elven sects broke off. A group of Drow known for their aquatic cunning and valor moved south, settling the Fakaldi islands calling themselves the Sea elves. These elves favored the water and subterranean envrionement and spent less and less time above it. Over time their consumption of the blue kelp that grows in vast forest beneath the waters here caused their skin to turn blue and scaly, but allowed them to further their aqueous feats. Additionally, a group of high elves broke off and moved deeper into the woods of central Omena Thalor, settling in the great forests. They called themselves the wood elves, and developed principles and cultures all their own. These four groups lived in peace. However peace is never infinite. Many within the Drow felt they deserved the wealth and power gifted now to the fair haired elves of the mainland. Upon the christening of Ulma Cam as the queen of the eastern elves, 1500 years of peace was broken. In the year 204 B.L. a horrible war broke out pitting brother against brother, cousin against cousin, and elf against elf. The sea elves to the south chose to sit back and watch the fight, remaining neutral through the wars, but the wood elves of central Aetros and the high elves of the west were pitted against the older and more established Drow of the east. In the early days of war, confusion struck. As people tried to fight from coast to coast, little land changed hands. For two centuries the elves bickered. Alliances changed as the wood elves joined the drow against the high elves. The high elves had used their superior ships and technology to brutaly butcher any other boats on the seas. In 1 B.L. the Drow reached out for help from the gnomes of Eberron, a continent to the north. From here, a friendship that would span the test of time was forged. The gnomes brought their great machinations and weapons that they had created to fight the many dragons of their homeland, and the high elves of Omena Thalor were no match. In short work the war was over, but the gnomes looked upon the destruction they helped cause and were distraught. They knew that the elves needed peace as further violence or death would only lead to a nation born of blood. To fix this, the Gnommish general Brand Longbits, called leaders from all four elven sects to Eshad. The Treaty of Longbits was signed, marking the beginning of a peace and a new world for the elves. A united Aetros was formed with one goal. Peace for all elves. Due to their help with both sides in the war, a wood elf family called the Mistfalls was granted leadership over the land and Members of all four elven sects as well as their kin settled under their rule. The Mistfalls have ruled Aetros ever since.
