The AI FUTURE
This was a very good conversation, you covered a broad breath of implications however there are some blind spots here. First the AI revolution is happening along side a revolution in robotics and the paring of the two imperils more than the high skilled jobs that were discussed. In the blink of an eye robotic labor will exit the factory floors and enter bakeries and hospitals alike. AI will compliment the roll out of the automated work force and the sociological and economic consequences will be deep and destructive. We have coped with one revolution at a time thus far - how will the disruption of two revolutions be absorbed? Capitalism and government can not function without consumers/taxpayers - the 1% for all of their consumption can not power a nation state alone. Secondly, the flavor of AI will be different depending on the intentions of its makers. A North Korean AI will have very different functions than a South Korean AI. The constraints will be different thus the consequences for implementation will be different. A world were Iranian or North Korean or Russian or Chinese AI is operating in the same digital and physical spaces as our own is going to be exponentially more dangerous. A digitized world with autonomous robots powered by Al that are ripe for hacking and manipulation is not going to be pretty. We think that the catastrophe is going to be that we become obsolete and AI replaces us like the puppets becoming the puppet master but the scarier scenario is that we become collateral damage in an AI VS AI conflict like civilians trapped in a war zone.

Loved the first episode of Preet’s new podcast. In a slew of worthy folks competing for our limited time, his experience, knowledge of how the government and justice works, and smart approach stand out. It’s great to have him help provide perspective on what’s going on in DC and elsewhere.
