“Okay, I gotta say this first: I love, love, love Michael Port’s work. Ever since I watched him and Amy Mead coach people live on Creative Live — I haven’t been able to get enough of their training. They are *both* that good.
And this podcast? Well worth your time. Every minute of it. Every 1/2 minute of it. (Apologies to Michael Port…I listen to almost all podcasts and audiobooks at 2x to 3x speed. Luckily he speaks really clearly. I even laugh at the jokes. :))
*Michael Port* is that good. He’s clear, he’s funny, insightful, and *different*. This is not your usual public speaking blah blah blah.
This podcast isn’t just about public speaking — it’s a podcast about *communication* — about connecting with people in a way that helps them, moves them, and makes a difference in their lives, no matter how big or how small.
I used to think that “acting” was about being fake. But at its best, it’s not. And Michael’s work in Steal the Show is about showing how the principles of acting — the real core of acting — can actually help us be more authentic, more honest, and more *human* when we talk to each other.
My favourite episodes thus far are the ones on rehearsal. There’s some really great advice here, and it’s *different* from all the other advice I’ve seen out there. Seriously — go listen to a few of the shorter episodes for flavour and context…and then go listen to the rehearsal episodes and internalize them. Listen listen listen…and do do do.
If you want to be a great communicator, this podcast — well, Michael Port — should be whispering in your earbuds. I know that sounds weird. But the weirdness is worth it.
And geez, it’s a podcast. It only costs your time. And your attention.
It will be attention well spent.”
