Character, Complexity (and Consequences.)
The World of Darkness has always been a place where actions have consequences, especially when in comes to the kind of personal horror found in Vampire the Masquerade. The show (and Mathas as Storyteller) strikes a good balance between describing what happens with enough detail that you can fully understand or visualise a scene (if you dare to) without going too deep, into all the gory details. By and large vampires are inherently not nice people (some more than others) and predatory by nature - consider yourself duly warned, bad things will happen. But the show still carries forward with humour and light touches, to help balance the darkness, and with characters that draw you in with compelling complexity found buried beneath the surface. Not everyone is as they seem to be, and you’d be a fool to take anything at face value, especially if you step in the world of vampire politics. I could describe the characters, or the setting, but I think perhaps it’s better if they introduce themselves, to lets them do themselves justice. In terms of audio quality, this is recorded and edited to a professional standard. The audio is crisp, clean and with the occasional sound effect added (presumably in post production) to heighten the sense of scene. All in all, I cannot recommend this podcast enough - if the subject matter isn’t something that automatically turns you away, maybe try listening to the first episode or two… you might just find a new favourite show, I know I did.

I love the characters and love to see what trouble they’ll get into...Read full review »

In a world where podcasts are plentiful, it really says something when one manages to stand out. The wonderful production value only serves to elevate the charismatic cast, and the story has left me hungry for more. Looking forward to listening as this actual play develops.
