A missed opportunity
The unearthing of the original interview clips opened up a great opportunity for this to be the definitive account of the ‘72 Tour. The journalists’ recollections are helpful in giving context, but the narration is a big weakness that detracts from the overall credibility. The script seems primarily concerned with reinforcing already well-mythologised aspects of the Stones and is delivered with an often comical cadence that doesn’t convey any emotion relevant the content.
