La Source is the story of a Haitian man and his 30-year journey to bring clean water to his village, beautifully narrated by actor Don Cheadle and filmed in the aftermath of the catastrophic 1/12/10 Haiti earthquake by filmmaker Patrick Shen.. Shen -- founder of Transcendental Media, dedicated to making films "to agitate the sleep of mankind" -- is a multiple award-winning filmmaker whose feature length debut, Flight from Death, received 7 Best Documentary awards at US film festivals. His second feature documentary, The Philosopher Kings, won multiple awards and premiered on The Documentary Channel in Sep '10. In Jan of '10 Patrick began work on La Source, his third feature doc, a film about two brothers from Haiti and their dream to bring clean water to their impoverished village. La Source composer Mateo Messina writes music for film, television, and the stage. His signature sound can be found on over 50 feature films, including the the Academy Award-winning Juno, for which he won a Grammy, as well as short films, and over 100 television episodes. Mateo has also written additional music for such hit films as Up In The Air, Thank You For Smoking, Young Adult, and NBC's iconic show The Office. Messina has written music for a variety of commercials, and since the age of 23, has written, produced, and premiered 15 symphonies. A Seattle native, Messina composes and produces an annual benefit concert with The Symphony Guild to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center. Entering its 14th year, Messina has raised over one million dollars for the hospital.
