Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Patriots Setting Mac Jones Up for Failure, a Crazy Kyrie Irving Story & Day 4 of Fan Mail
Listen now
Description
On today's episode, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kicks things off with a few thoughts on the New England Patriots' decision to sit Mac Jones and most of the offensive starters for the entirety of their first preseason game. Word out of Patriots training camp is that Jones and the offense has been an absolute dumpster fire under new offensive coordinator Matt Patricia so it seems odds that Bill Belichick would give them the night off. This offseason could not have gone worse for New England, and it almost feels as though the Pats are setting their second-year quarterback up for failure. Later, Rob G does a deep dive into a bizarre report that Kyrie Irving told the Brooklyn Nets during his contract negotiations that he refuses to play back-to-backs and will not play more than 60 games in any season moving forward. It's hard to believe this story on the surface until you realize that neither Kyrie's camp nor the Nets organization stands to gain from this information becoming public. So... maybe Kyrie is crazy enough to demand something like this? Finally, we close the show with Day 4 of the Fan Mail experience. Have the Baltimore Ravens failed Lamar Jackson? Why don't folks bring up Barry Bonds' 73 when discussing Aaron Judge's home run chase? Why do some hold LeBron James' final record against him? What time exactly does the podcast get recorded?
