Description
Where pop culture and history collide! The Library of Alexandria was constructed in the ancient city of Alexandria, Egypt. It was a massive complex, comprising several buildings and housing an estimated 700,000 scrolls. It was literally the library of the ancient world! And although it housed great wisdom and paved the way for the modern library, its stewards also used it as a way to gain power, censor unwanted texts, and control the narrative. Ultimately it was destroyed—twice. With it humanity lost untold historical treasures but we also have it to thank for paving the way for the modern library.
