The clinical environment patients see versus what we as healthcare professionals see are worlds apart– rife with chaos, mountains of paperwork, and sometimes it can even be antithetical. Because of this, burnout is rampant throughout the system. Burnout is something we can all experience across different fields– but in this episode, I wanted to focus on physician burnout and how we can both avoid and overcome it. I’m joined by Diane Shannon, MD, MPH, a former primary care physician that boasts over 20 years of experience as a professional health care writer and author. Inspired by her mother’s pursuit of healthcare, Diane followed in her footsteps and pursued medical training.
