Reclaiming Your Voice After Trauma with Sharli Berry

Description
For the month of June, in response to our collective grief and outrage over racist acts continuing in our country, on my platforms I'm centering our conversations around reclaiming our voice. This week’s #WorkYourPlan conversation with Sharli Berry, a licensed therapist and the owner of Destiny's Door Counseling, about reclaiming your voice after trauma is critical to this conversation. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's quote "protest is the language of the unheard" is quoted frequently right now. We're going to dig into what that means from a mental health perspective. Specifically, we will be talking about how we reclaim our voice after different forms of trauma - childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, as well as, the trauma of systemic racism. In this episode we discuss... What is trauma? What role does our faith play to help us deal with trauma? What role does therapy play? How traumas get triggered How systemic racism triggers us How we reclaim our voice after trauma *** Show Notes: Destiny's Door Counseling Center @ddcounseling @kendratillman @strongherme *** You don't need more advice.
