Audiobooks That Give Us Courage to Speak Our Stories

Description
I usually share physical books, but I want to recommend some audio books this week. I love listening to books in the author’s voice. There is a true connection that is made when you hear someone’s words in their voice. I think one of the powerful elements of podcasting is you hearing my voice. Our voice tells a story. When you hear someone’s voice, you get a sense of their body language, you see their flaws which is always connecting, you get to absorb more of their personality, their history. // Show Notes How to Fix a Broken Record by Amena Brown Fierce, Free and Full of Fire by Jen Hatmaker Born a Crime by Trevor Noah The Dream of You by Jo Saxton Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates // July #WorkYourPlan Book Club Selection: "The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life" by Edith Eger Edith Eger is a clinical psychologist and a Holocaust survivor. In the Gift she explains that the worst prison she experienced is not the prison that Nazis put her in but the one she created for herself, the prison within her own mind. She describes the twelve most pervasive imprisoning beliefs she has known—including fear, grief, anger, secrets, stress, guilt, shame, and avoidance—and the tools she has discovered to deal with these universal challenges.  Accompanied by stories from Eger’s own life and the lives of her patients, this book captures the vulnerability and common challenges we all face and provides encouragement and advice for breaking out of our personal prisons to find healing and enjoy life.
