Judging the past with today’s standards
I listened to the recent episode about Alexei Stakhanov - and the hosts judge his marriage with his young wife by their 2024 American eyes. Alexei Stakhanov was a Russian from the 1930s who married a teenager. While most Americans frown upon something like this. I would say in his country at that time it was not uncommon. Something to consider when trying to understand historical figures.
