So much of this is ABA under another name, and so many stereotypes too. Crikey!! It gets old!!
I’m autistic too so it’s pretty hard to miss this. I know what Sue has stopped trying to learn and will probably never understand. Much as it’s hard to fight for my kid’s education and NDIS allocations and deal with sibling conflicts etc, there’s much more authentic info out there and I feel sorry for all the autistic kids whose carers and therapists just are not prepared to decentre their normative assumptions to fully understand. There is a “double empathy” problem at play here - and we’ve spent way longer and harder studying you than you have us.”
