“You have a podcast I enjoy.
Dave I get that you have a connection to the island. Yet in some ways I feel these podcasts about “The Garden Island, Irons bro’s, the Hamilton’s, Aloha Xchange” are bias. Who is representing the battling Hawaiian surf crew. The average chargers and hard working top rippahs who quietly went about their business with the same passion as our mainland visitors? Expressing there love for the Hawaiian culture. Kaua’i is a hostile place for non Hawaiians. Old school Bashing’s. Encroachment anxiety. Tension. It be disrespectful not to make references to the original KB morals and ethics that set the standards of the Kaua’i brand of surfing. the facts are if it weren’t for them are world titles relevant? Or pay respects to extraordinary surfing. I don’t condone violence and aggressive behaviour. That is unacceptable. As a Hawaiian i feel sad to see more and more haoles infiltrating Kaua’i. Manufacturing ways to legitimise a dominance of presence on and a in the line up. The island needs nurturing. With increasing population, targeted exploitation of resources; this neglect will expose the fragility of this micro dot. The beachfront is being impacted with the cars parking on the sand. Problems with lack of facilities and proper litter solutions. It’s looking average at best. Let me remind you Kaua’i is tiny in comparison to the vast coastline of Western Australia. The kauaian people of the olden days and ways are quietly being forgotten as is the protection of its resource; in this particular topic “ surfing”. I’m born and raised Kauaian boy. My dad work for Grove Farm and Lihue Sugar. He and his network of akamai friends, with aloha, built up the island up. Keep Kaua’i Kaua’i.
