White guy podcaster feels bad about racist past/ignores rape
If you’re ok with a podcast diminishing the rape of a 15 year old in order to throw down the race card to pity a rapist, then this podcast is for you! The arrogance of the narrator and his blasé attitude about child rape is astounding. Instead of calling things as they are (i.e. the Redmond police department basing their investigation off of the rapist’s past history of violence towards women), the podcaster lamely tries to infuse racial bias into this case. He not only does an injustice to rape victims, but hijacks the very insidious culture of racial bias in policing to make it fit into a narrative that isn’t the case. This podcast is very damaging to a lot of rape victims, and victims of racial profile. It’s already an exhausting trope “all knowing white guy podcaster” wanting to make it clear he’s not racist at the expense of making the rape of a 15 year old seem insignificant. Shaer is a discredit to journalism in his obvious bias and blatant disregard for rape. Ignoring someone’s past and trying to make criminals victims doesn’t prove their innocence. Good reporting does. If you like listening to rape apologists, have at it.

The story had me intrigued right away. The episodes move quickly but are detailed, the narration and music aren’t distracting and the use of real first hand accounts and interviews is second to none.

No idle banter or chit chat just straight forward story telling. 3. Tried and succeeded in anticipating any questions the listener may have...Read full review »

Since they don’t tell you: you can only listen to the first 3 episodes free. Then you have to have a subscription. It’s good, but that that good. I’ll just Google it.
