Listen now
Description
David Dowd cut his teeth working at a surf shop in Long Beach Island at the ripe age of 10 years. He eventually went on to own and operate Division East Skate Shop in Montclair, NJ for over 13 years. His shop became a focal point for skate culture within that community. Division East had to shut its doors in 2012 at a time of upheaval in the skate and surf industry. Dave shares his experiences running a core skate shop and making your passion your work. We explore how you define yourself after you leave the comfort of an industry that helped to shape your identity.
