Description
Listeners… Have you ever hand shaped a surfboard? Have you ever had the desire to try and mow foam with a planer and ride something you made? Or make a board that you might have seen but don’t have access to? Shea Somma is a shaper out of the central coast of California who started hand shaping boards in 2008, out of the curiosity to try new designs and shapes that weren’t as available to him at the time. He began in his backyard shed with a desire to create and sample many niche board designs from the obscure corners of surfing. He’s been chasing the unique sensations one feels from riding these alternative designs ever since. Shea is here in New York doing a short residency at the Kings Glassing Facility in Brooklyn and he is our guest on this episode of The Swell Season Surf Podcast. For more information you can follow @sheasomma on Instagram or go to https://sommaspecialdesigns.com The Swell Season Podcast is recorded by The NewsStand Studio at Rockefeller Center in the heart of Manhattan and is distributed by The Swell Season Surf Radio Network. www.swellseasonsurfradio.com Music: Song: No Quit Artist: Michael Nau Album: Single
