“This podcast is such an esoteric combination of subjects that it seems like it was manufactured specifically for me.
To enjoy this podcast, you need to know and enjoy Kevin Smith's ability to spin a yarn. That guy can (and will) go on tangents and tell an hour long story, just to answer a simple yes or no question. Somehow, he keeps me hanging on every word. Maybe it's his vast knowledge of all things comic book and Star Wars nerdy. Perhaps it's my fan boy level of devotion to his work. There is definitely an unspoken bond born out of growing up along the Jersey shore, long before MTV sullied its name. Whatever it is, the first aspect of my adoration for this podcast is solid.
Matt Mira may not be as well known of a name as Kevin Smith, but I have been a fan of his for maybe five years now. I first took notice of him as contributor/co-host on Attack of the Show on the now-defunct G4 network. His current work writing for @midnight and his several other podcasts, including James Bonding, secures my solid interest in the second aspect for this podcast.
Finally, the actual subject matter for this podcast: Frasier. Admittedly, I was a bit young to fully grasp and enjoy the level of writing of this great show when it first aired live on NBC. I was in college as the show was reaching its conclusion and managed to watch some episodes here and there. Thankfully, the entirety of Frasier made its way to Netflix, and I was able to binge watch the entire series a few years ago. This just happened to coincide with my personal journey through medical school and entering my specialty of psychiatry. I found such a connection to this show, imagining Dr. Frasier Crane as a colleague, and wondering how I could somehow set up a psychiatry based, call-in radio show as well. Needless to say, every single part of this podcast is inexplicably suited to my proclivities.
Bravo, Kevin and Matt. You two titans of the interweb airwaves have a strong supporter here.”
