Since its premiere in Dublin in 1742 Handel's oratorio "Messiah" has become one of Western music's best-loved and most-performed choral works. "For Unto Us a Child is Born" is taken from the first (nativity) section of "Messiah," which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
