The Indian Super League promised to be life saviour to Indian football with its franchise-based model. However, we argue that the only way teams can remain afloat is if these franchises turn into football clubs. The age-old problem of financial sustainability in Indian football is discussed, while we look into markets with untapped potential that teams must consider to generate additional revenue streams in the future.
