The Intersection of Colonization and Food Sovereignty for the Navajo Nation
Listen now
Description
Indigenous people in the U.S. are up to 400% more likely to experience food insecurity. That's by design. A key aspect to colonization has always been to erode food sovereignty, but many are working to reclaim it. That includes the Navajo Nation, which spans three southwestern states. In this episode, Native America Calling reporter (and Toasted Sister podcast host) Andi Murphy takes us to the reservation to explore what has driven high rates of food insecurity and what's being done about food sovereignty.
