One of My Biggest Pet Peeves -- Trademarks
Listen now
Description
Today, we're going to be talking about my biggest one of my biggest pet peeves in business, which is when people decide to add a TM to the end of every little thing on the Internet. They decide they're going to call their program "Happy" so they want to put a TM after the name...even though they know nothing about trademark laws, and even though it's going to be probably impossible to trademark the word "happy," they still want to do it. In this episode, I discuss:  Why you have to understand how trademarks work. Google is not sufficient enough to properly vet whether someone owns a trademark. My recent situation with confronting someone who was infringing on my trademark.  Confronting people on things that aren’t factual. The importance of having a thick skin when dealing with legal matters. When you need to involve a lawyer.  "If we're going to be in the business of being in business, then we really understand the business."
