“I really appreciate hearing some of the facts around these tragedies. The tone of the podcast disturbing. The shirtwaist factory fire was one of the worst industrial fires in history. Young immigrant women were locked in and unable to save themselves and it was a major contributor to unionization, workers rights and fire safety. The laughter over the failure of the fire department to check the hoses is incredibly insensitive. This is a major reason why we have safety regulations and it cost over 100 young women their lives. Are we really making jokes about chapstick?”
