Episode 27 of The Artists Contemporary Podcast is now out and in this episode Anna is joined by London based surrealist painter @daisydoddnoblestudio. Daisy creates contemporary surrealist paintings often inspired by trees and sunsets. While on evening walks she will make notes of her surroundings and the forms and then she will use her imagination to form the compositions in her paintings. She has describe the trees as the characters within her works and see that they represents symbols rather than literal trees. Daisy describes her use of colour as an impulse and was always drawn to bright colours and in particular pink. As her work has developed she has really tried to get into and understand the relationships between colours that you see in a sunset. She also looks at other artists who’s use of colours that Daisy is drawn to. Daisy has recently exhibited at @thecolumbialondon with @romanroad_ curated by @mymarisworld. This was one of the first times Daisy made portrait paintings which are around 6ft, this made the trees become a lot more personified and confrontational.
