Episode 30 of The Artists Contemporary Podcast is now live and this weeks guest is @douglas.cantor. Douglas is a Colombian artist currently working in Glasgow alongside is wife and fellow painter @im_na_naina. Douglas work is autobiographical and he explores the idea of identity, questioning what is his identity of an emigrant male artist. Douglas uses the South American icon of the cowboy and the horse to investigate his own emotions and thoughts. The idea of the cowboy being sent out to work the land for months at a time alone with only their horse for company. Douglas looks into the how he relates and responds from this idea. Douglas’ biggest inspiration is @im_na_naina, they met while studying at Camberwell and have been together since. Sophie is the person encouraged Douglas to start painting and exploring his creativity through his painting language.
