Manipulative but fun
Really well-done and entertaining. The “investigation” gets hilarious as it is is obviously biased toward belief in the “haunting” and paranormal. Will just expect you to accept as facts “historical findings” from whoever and observations from the “paranormal expert.” The “skeptic” frames everything in psychological terms but rarely asks difficult questions. Very well-done manipulation.

Whereas the rest of the cast seem to “get” the aesthetic they’re going for, the usually reliable Toby Jones delivers his lines in the over-emphatic, slightly hammy style one might expect of a person reading Jackanory....
