Essential connection a public service
Just as during the GE 2019, James Butler and the rest of his Novara Media et al supporting cast deliver a consistently insightful, informative and nuanced take on the current crisis. It’s enough to detach more than one might from the rolling news cycle that can entangle the imagination. The Burner is the right amount of update to allow one the tools to discuss the discourses of pandemic whilst encouraging the liberation of the imagination. Perhaps, amongst many things, it’s the conversational manner of James’s approach, allowing one to feel a part of the dialogue rather than a receptacle into which stats and doom is poured. Dispatches from a boat moored somewhere in London, a buoyant bastion of leftist critique, an essential connection, a public service.
