Description
Are you ready for a curveball in your business like a medical diagnosis, an accident, or some other crisis you might face? Find out what you need to do in your business when life throws you a curveball and how our special guest, Jennifer Starbuck, responded to her own crisis that came her way in February of 2023.  Jennifer runs Highlands Ranch City Lifestyle, a local magazine highlighting influencers and business owners in the area. She is a journalist by trade and also a writer. This year, she was thrown a huge curveball that changed the course of her life and business that caused her to have to make some tough decisions.  Be An Advocate for Yourself  Jennifer was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, but it only came after she advocated for herself with her doctors. As businesswomen, we have to be willing to do the same for ourselves. Ask questions, be persistent, get a second opinion - all great advice when it comes to our health, our families, and our businesses.  Divinely Woven Together God worked in Jennifer’s life the year prior to orchestrate  - even though she didn’t know it. She was able to do some intensive training to really scale her business. Additionally, she was able to build a team. Both of these things allowed her to be able to step back from her business while she was treated for cancer. Our purpose is really about a person - Christ. It’s less about what you do, and more about who we do it for. Our purpose isn’t in our business, but rather focusing.  Learning How to Scale This is the point of having a business - scaling it to the point where you could step away from it if you need to. Starting with strong organization and processes will help you be able to do this. A great place to start is to partner with a CPA. Also work with a lawyer to have a plan to follow if you need to step away from your business. Create a support team to help you - this doesn’t always mean a paid team, it can also be a community you have around you. You can’t anticipate every curveball that might come, but you can take steps to plan ahead wisely.  Prioritize the Right Things Make your mental health, your spiritual health,  a priority right now. If you don’t have good health, you can’t help anyone else. It will sustain you in the hard times when they come. Remember that it’s not about if a crisis will come, but when. So be planning ahead now.
