“Just keep going”, is the advice from Andrew Burnes, CEO and Managing Director of Helloworld Travel Limited. In 1990, Andrew Burnes was operating his travel company in the north-east Queensland town of Cairns. That February his revenue totalled $99.00. It was clear he needed to pivot in order to survive. Andrew is now the CEO and Managing Director of HelloWorld, an ASX listed travel organisation providing international and domestic services to a global clientele. The company employs more than 2000 staff, receives more than 40,000 phone calls a week and over 13 million hits on its website each day. Andrew and Paul Roos talk about the lessons from the early days running safaris in the top end of Australia through to his insights working in the top-end-of corporate Australia.
