“What a waste of time. I wish I had read the reviews first. But I was also surprised by the cruelty. This investigation gave Shelli’s family and friends—and listeners—the hope that an NYT investigative reporter would finally crack the cold case after so many years. Instead, this reporter embarrases key witnesses by confronting them with possible false memories, an upsetting experience they didn’t deserve after so many years, while not challenging the suspect’s wife with hers. A blatant double standard reminiscent of the police’s biased approach to this case. In creating this podcast, it seems the reporter didn’t want years of her time go to waste, so instead decided to waste ours.”
