Lackluster and disappointing
Whether or not you agreed with the conclusions being drawn, you could always count on riveting storytelling from the Serial folks. Not so much with this one. Really this sounds like one of the many garden-variety true crime podcasts inspired by Serial that popped up in its wake. I am obviously very sorry for the victims family members and everything that they have been through, but I kept waiting for the interesting twist or for it to “get good.“ What we got instead was essentially “yeah, some people think this person did it, some people think this person did it, and we just don’t know, and probably never will. Man, that’s a drag…“ Maybe this would resonate with me more if I was from Laramie like the host, I don’t know. Her Daria-esque too cool for the room vibe gets old really fast as well. Again, just really disappointing. We’ve come to expect more from the Serial brand.
