“Trailer and premise (A reporter investigating an unsolved murder which turns out to be a straight-forward case of police incompetence in her own hometown she has a difficult relationship with) start off great, but the podcast’s editing is a real disappointment and even kind of enfuriating considering such names as The New York Times and Serial behind it. A missed opportunity to make a great podcast. It is like the reporter uploaded all her original interview material in poor audio quality with little editing. We hear way too long original audio with people searching for words, drinking and the reporter’s questions. The poor editing and lack of a focussed telling of everything that happened which is so important to follow a criminal case, make it really hard to follow the story.
Another release from the House of Serial that raises the question why Serial is always quoted as the great mother of all true crime podcasts. There are far more better crafted true crime podcasts like „Missing and Murdered: Finding Cleo“, „The King Road Killings“, or „Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen“ just to name a few.”
