Did not ask the obvious and tough questions
I think the reporter was too close to the community to really do hard hitting reporting. She totally lest the cop and his wife off the hook at the end and didn’t press them on the only questions worth asking. So dissatisfied.

I’ve listened to a couple of these episodes, and the audio quality is like nails on a chalkboard. I guess they’re going for some kind of affect, but I don’t think that I can tolerate the tinny quality. Stop the effects or get better quality microphones.

I found this pod slow-going at first but persisted and am glad I did. I count on Serial/NYT to elevate the subjects it tackles and, in the end, this series brings nuance and subtlety I’ve rarely seen in true crime. A real quality piece of journalism that shows you don’t always need a neatly packaged ending to hit home. The interview with Garcia was particularly heart wrenching.
