“I’ve been an avid listener for over a year, and look forward to each episode. On my own, I gravitate toward more modern poetry, so I appreciate how this podcast features a wide spectrum of poets, spanning centuries.
The hosts often select poetry that corresponds to the season or an upcoming holiday, or a poem that is relevant to the moment in history we are currently living. After a first read of the poem, they do an excellent job unpacking the poem, always pulling out meaning and ideas and form I would have not picked up on my own. The poem is then read once more.
I like that the episodes are brief—5 to 10 minutes total, and I really enjoy listening to David Kern and Heidi White’s voices. They sound like old, familiar friends, and currently, their show is the only “grown-up” podcast that my two young kids will happily listen to in the car.”
