The Deciding Decade Episode 1
This premier episode did not disappoint. Mayor Pete is a great interviewer who lets his subject talk and asks questions that show he’s given the current state of the justice system a lot of thought. It was not a feel good, everything will be alright conversation but a sober assessment (under time constraints) of how we got to this point and what is our responsibility to ensure we right the ship of state & be diligent in making sure it stays on course afterwards. It sure does matter who is in those offices. I especially liked the last answer directed to budding lawyers who are seeing the justice system they plan to join be misused so blatantly by the ones charged to protect it. Preet’s counsel to them that their personal integrity can restore the system was spot on. The point he made (and I’m paraphrasing) that laws already exist to prevent the illlegal actions we are seeing. What is needed is restoration into power people who will see they are enforced on behalf of the people.
