The Republicans
Devon, Listening to your conversation with VDH down here in Sydney, Australia in the small hours of Sunday morning and I think it might have been you that spoke about the obvious need to take back the house, the senate and the White House. However, it occurs to me that that’s not enough. It’s what’s the Republicans do with the power that matters. The votes, even in a landslide count for nothing if Republicans are going to get comfortable, sit back and just pick up where they left off with more of the same, epitomised by swap creatures and slugs like Chris Christie and even the 1956 Rotary club style droning of Mike Pence. Or the Republican Party epitomised by the likes of McCain, Romney and the odious, egregious and creepy, Paul Ryan. What is desperately needed is commitment and attitude. It seems that some conservatives still seriously believe that they can win and progress their agenda under Marquis of Queensbury rules in an eye gouging, knee to the groin, no holds barred cage fight. They can’t and they need to wake up and understand what time it is. Maybe the Trump mugshot will be the wake up call. Apart from Vivek what we saw on the debate stage was the same old, boilerplate, woulda, coulda, shoulda, gunna. Ramaswamy was the only one for example to call out the climate agenda as a hoax. The Democrats have their talking point about the bogus systemic racism but it seems that there’s definitely a very real and very deep systemic lethargy and country club mindset amongst some Republicans. Trump was part way to blowing that up but it’s going to take a number of terms to turn the entire thing around and finish the job. We have a similar problem in Australia where many conservatives just don’t get it. The left is everywhere and on the job 24/7. Conservatives are more, 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. When in power the conservatives are more of just a speed hump to the progressive agenda. They don’t pushback or turn it around to any great extent. The way they won’t take on the extremely biased, taxpayer funded national broadcaster is a case in point. If the Republicans can somehow harness the qualities of DJT, MAGA and America first with the can do, force of personality, dynamism and enthusiasm of Vivek Ramaswamy they’ll be unstoppable. Jim Ball

More reviews of The Devin Nunes Podcast
Nunes is my congressman. Rather than listen to my concerns, or that of his other constituents, he spends his time with his friends and fans on this precious podcast as to avoid issues he’s not familiar with or concerned about. Devin, spend this time taking questions from your district.
