I mostly agree with the other ‘not insightful’ review
Over the past 3 or 4 years I’ve alternated between listening to most episodes for want to anything else to listen to at work, and giving this pod a go only when I’m completely starved of soccer content. Regardless of the frequency, I’m left disappointed pretty much every time I tune in to this podcast. I wanted to like it since, on the surface, it’s different than most of the soccer podcast drivel that’s out there, but Mike and Mike are both kind of…horrible. Between the podcast and their Twitter activity (I would not recommend following them; for folks that present as leftists, there sure is a lot of centre/centre-right nonsense that gets retweeted and echoed) they both seem like pretty annoying people, and don’t have much insightful to say about anything. The podcast is lots of talking in circles; after spending ages discussing something, they then fail to commit to any substantive opinion on the topic. They also just seem to take turns trying to make their own point, and really don’t build off each other well. Finally, I know producing audio content takes time and money, but for a (usually half hour-ish) podcast that comes out once every week or two, they sure do try and push folks to the Patreon a lot. I don’t care about the Patreon angle for podcasts in general - by all means, try and make some money off your labour - but these guys regularly cover half a topic for free, then stick the rest behind the paywall, instead of doing something different or accessorial for Patreon. It’s very frustrating for someone (like me) without any disposable income for that type of thing. This is soccer-themed background noise that will annoy you more often than not.

More reviews of The Double Pivot
An objective view of a largely opinion based game. Great listen if you want to cut through the media based football balldust.

Mike and Mike break down the tactics in a way I find accessible. Definitely helpful for this relative newbie.

Best soccer analysis of any podcast I have listen too. Audio production quality needs to be improved though
