The "Lion's Gate" refers to the time of year (also known as the Dog Days of Summer) when Sirius, the brightest star in the northern sky, conjuncts the sun. (This year, the conjunction took place on July 23, but it is traditionally celebrated it on August 8, because it is a symbol of abundance, associated with the number 8/8.) This year, the new moon takes place on August 8 as well. This new moon sky is asking us to integrate our ability to recognize and ask for our deepest needs to be met. If we can do this, the change has the capacity to profoundly affect our destiny. We're being asked to put new structures and boundaries in place—types of structures that we, perhaps, have never thought of before. This time may even help us rethink what structures themselves are on a fundamental level, and we are being gifted the courage to do so—if we take the time to listen, feel, and grow. This time of year holds the opportunity for us to recognize our own strength and courageously embrace change.
