BOTH SEASONS ARE GOOD!
I first came to review this after hearing the first season, then saw a lot of negative reviews on the second and decided to wait to review until I heard everything. Now that I’ve listened to both seasons, here are a few remarks: -If you think the host wasn’t “judgey” in the first season but was in the second, then you just agreed with her judgments in the first and disagreed with them in the second. Host and co-hosts all made it clear that they did not like MLMs and had negative opinions on many of the figures they researched in the first season. Host makes it clear she doesn’t like the wellness industry in the second season while co-host is more open to some of the standard (although not really proven effective) wellness practices. So there’s actually a but more leeway/diversity of opinion in the second season and you can’t really claim that as a reason to dislike it if you did like the first. - “sounds like host works for big pharma” - then why would she discuss how an opioid pharmaceutical company created software for use in drs offices so that they could sell more prescription opiates? Discounting wellness claims that are unresearched and/or disproven =\= encouraging wholesale use of unnecessary pharmaceuticals, nor does it equate to taking every single pharmaceutical companys’ claims at face value. Ultimately, it’s worth listening to. The wellness industry is far more vast and varied than the topic of MLMs. It’s also incredibly popular right now and there’s definitely more disagreement with the main host’s negative view of it (which is largely based on the many scammy people/companies who are selling snake oil), even within her personal relationships. You can definitely disagree with her view while still enjoying the information gathered and presented on the show. If you liked the first season, then the “bias” of the second shouldn’t be a problem, since it was also there in the first. If it is a problem, then it’s only because it doesn’t echo your own bias on/about wellness.

Hooked! Amazing investigative journalism paired with on-the-edge-of-your-seat storytelling. Love the connections made with economic gaps and the patriarchy, and how that makes room for MLM schemes to take place. I’m really finding myself empathize with the women in these pyramid schemes.
