Description
Ash Alexander-Cooper is a former specialist unit Colonel in the British Army, disabled veteran, international athlete and musician, business leader, mental health campaigner and speaker on leadership, resilience, performance and adaptability.  In June 2021, whilst in quarantine in Australia, where he had travelled to see his daughter for the first time in 12 months, he decided to run a marathon in his hotel room. He eventually ran a distance of 32.2 miles (or 11,334 turns!)  and used this as an opportunity to raise money for the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI); to date he has raised over £7,500. In this episode, Ash shares what inspired  him to take on this challenge and what helped to motivate him over 5 hours of running in a confined space, turning around every 8 steps. He shares the benefits of how this experience connected him to a wider community, but also the benefits of seeing the opportunities for adventure where there seem to be none.
