It's true, you will get more support in your goal to have an unmedicated and physiologic birth while you are laboring during the first stage. But all of that will change once it's time to push. This is when the doctor or midwife typically come in and want to "help." You will not get a hands of second stage of labor if you are having the standard hospital birth.
