BIO:
Marty Keltz is an Emmy Award-winning producer and was the co-founder and president of Scholastic Productions, Inc. (SPI, 1978-1995) and a Senior Vice-President of New Media at Scholastic Inc. He led the teams that created The Magic School Bus, Goosebumps and Charles in Charge. An executive producers of The Indian in the Cupboard and The Baby-Sitters Club feature films, he received an International Emmy Award for My Secret Identity, a US-CA co-production, starring Jerry O’Connell. During his tenure Scholastic Productions produced more than 300 hours of television programming winning numerous awards
From 1972-1978, he was the publisher of Media & Methods Magazine, a pioneering publication for educators focused on media literacy. It sought to encourage and empower teachers to use mass media in their classrooms. Free To Be…You And Me, the Marlo Thomas and Friends project, was an early recipient of the magazine’s “Maxi Award.”
Prior to 1978, he worked with EYR Programs, founded by Charles Salzman, Michael Frankfurt, Robert Redford, Bill Bradley and others, to bring First Run Independent films and documentaries to college campuses. For three years he was an English teacher, first at Martin Van Buren High School, Long Island and subsequently, at Brentwood East Junior High School
In Canada, he has worked with documentary filmmakers, visual effects companies, Tele Images Nature, NHK, Discovery Channel CA and the Alliance Atlantis Lifetime Channel for a True Entertainment series on Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
Currently, Keltz is an advisor to Stephen Murray, Founder and Co-CEO of Bingeable and to Doug Thompson, Founder and CEO of The Bureau of Bright Ideas.
Born in Brooklyn and a graduate of Adelphi University, he now lives in Toronto with his wife Karin Lippert. He is the proud father of three adult children and seven grandchildren.
