“In resubmitting this review I must point out a couple things that I think need to be addressed. I noticed that Emily has a tendency to give high praise to the federal elements of law enforcement that she interviews and showcases. My problem with that is the federal agencies are also very fallible in regards to case management and the offering of resources. I have been given the brush off personally during serious crimes when trying to enlist federal assistance and have been denied their involvement. At one point even having go in front of and plead with an AUSA to follow through with a federal prosecution of two violent drug gangs after being attached to a task force. Another aspect of the show that bothers me is in some episodes she has guests on that bash the local police departments. In the last episode the guest said outright that the New Orleans Police Department is “not that good”. There are tons and tons of cases out there that the NOPD has worked on that have come to successful conclusions. But also let me explain something, police DO NOT investigate most adult missing persons unless clear blatant evidence of a crime is observed and recovered. A lot of people DO NOT WANT TO BE FOUND. This show smears these local and state departments while deifying the feds all too often for me to continue listening. I hope someone reads this and understands that I have the utmost respect for Emily as a journalist and personality but I cannot sit by and let her host episodes attacking local departments out of ignorance. Pick some cases that are interesting and stop kissing the feds butts. Its demeaning especially when you actually know them. I also have heard very negative things about Jay Dobyns to listen to Emily fawn over him like he is, to use his term, a “supercop” kind of made me laugh. Showcase actual “cops” and quit with the feds.
Also, what is with the missing persons cases? Is this an attempt to get a case opened to get the podcast traction? Cause that is exploitative and lame.
I like the idea of this type of podcast but not in its current form.”
