Almost half of Muslims worry that using eye drops can break their fast, especially when excess drops drain away down the back of the throat. However, most scholars agree that drops do not break the fast.    It’s crucial to continue to use eye drops if you’ve been prescribed them to control your eye pressure – failure to do so could result in irreversible sight loss.    We spoke to Dr Roxanne Crosby-Nwaobi, Honorary Associate Professor at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, about this issue and what you can do if you’re still worried using eye drops might break your fast.
