Description
Today, on The Goggler Podcast, Bahir and Uma watch and review Rain Town, the brand new Malaysian movie from director Tunku Mona Riza. Rain Town is now showing in Malaysian cinemas. In the idyllic town of Taiping, lantern maker and head of the family, Choo Kim Wah, ruthlessly attempts to control the dreams and happiness of his three children, Isaac, Alex, and Ruby, in order to pursue his own desires whilst maintaining some form of dignity. When the children begin to explore their own paths in life, an assumingly all-knowing father intervenes relentlessly, preventing them from realizing their dreams, ultimately plunging them into despair. Trying hard to find comfort in their own world, they unexpectedly spiral into a vicious cycle, sometimes resulting in life-threatening consequences. With every decision forced against their wishes, Choo slowly tears apart the fragile fabric of the family with his own hands. When a tragedy befell wife Aileen, the family struggle becomes even more heart-wrenching as the conflicts escalate. How will they bridge their differences and repair their irreconcilable feelings?Rain Town was directed by Tunku Mona Riza and stars Chew Kin Wah, Susan Lankester, Fabian Loo, Wilson Lee, and Pauline Tan.
