This could quite possibly be the most important podcast interview I've done! Monina Gilbey is the Biodiversity Manager at Glenelg Golf Club in Adelaide, South Australia. Her role in part entails maintaining and managing the out of play areas of the golf course which includes both the flora and fauna of the overall golf course land. Glenelg Golf Club as a whole, have committed to a sustainable future in maintaining the golf course land and part of that is the backing of Monina and Superintendent Tim Warren's vision in the potential that the golf course land at Glenelg can offer the local environment and community. Through the hard work of everyone involved at the club, the land of the course has now become a sanctuary for local flora and fauna, living in harmony with a fully functioning, highly regarded 18 hole golf course, which in my eyes is a model for the future. Monina let's us all in on just what they have been creating and preserving at Glenelg Golf Club. Monina also explains how important the green space of golf courses, and only golf courses are, as wildlife sanctuaries in urban centres, contrary to the social and media commentary we all hear about. We talk about insects, birds, endangered plants that only remain on golf courses in Adelaide, and also a favourite topic of mine - HONEY!
