The book, not the reader.
Anna Butterworth is an amazing reader, it’s easy to distinguish the different characters by her tone. No hate to her in any way whatsoever. The great Gatsby is just a terrible book, the writing, the plot, the pacing, all of it is just awful. The characters are so flat and out of touch with normal human emotions it’s painful to read/listen to. The plot doesn’t have any pacing whatsoever, everything important happens in the last 2 1/2 chapters the rest is unnecessary and redundant. The characters don’t react like any person of fictional character should or would, they don’t seem to care when someone dies, or when someone is cheating.
