“Lots of good, thought-provoking stuff in your charisma ep.
Are people ‘born’ with it? I suspect not, although I imagine that some people are more motivated by the advantages it conveys and more inclined to cultivate it.
An interesting case study in the UK is Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn. He is not actually a very effective speaker and has spent an eternity making mediocre presentations on pet topics to like-minded leftwingers. But he is a man on a mission and some people perceive him - rightly or wrongly - as authentic. He has cultivated a cult following - unfortunately in every sense of the phrase.
In the USA, I would nominate Barack Obama as my favourite President of my lifetime, in terms of his ethics, policy direction and trustworthiness. But I don’t actually think he is as charismatic as, say, Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan. Those guys exuded folksy charm and made everyone feel they were the centre of attention. I see Obama as more aloof and pensive.”
